The title of this book, 'A Colour of Wind', is known as seasonal words of autumn in the society of Japanese traditional haiku. When summer, the season of high temperatures and humidity, ends, autumn, which is not so hot or cold, starts in Japan. Autumn air is so pure and clear that we can see the colours and shapes of things distinctly. The flowers in the day, the moon or the stars in the night... things are given their clear contours. In such a season, people's senses are sharpened to the extent that even the wind seems to have colour and shape. Of course, in any season or anywhere, the wind itself has no colour or shape. To find the colours or shapes of the wind is an effect of our imagination. Though its power is the most important item, the author feels that it continues to reduce for a long time among Japanese. マスクパニック / The mask panic

　御多分にもれず、私も手持ちのマスクが底をつきそうです。近所のドラッグ・ストアでは、毎朝いくらかのマスクを売りに出していますが、長い行列ができる有様で、なかなか入手困難です。 　そんな訳で、そろそろ布製のマスクを使い始めようと思います。布製のマスクは何かと評判が良くないようです。確かに衛生的な効果は、不織布製の物ほどには期待出来ませんが、今となっては必要なエチケットです。 　何しろ、世界人口七十億人ですから、全員に使い捨てのマスクを毎日供給するのは無理なのは明らかです。当面布製マスクをなるべく清潔な状態で使いつつ、他にコロナ対策として手近で有効な手立てがないものか、考えたいものです。 / Like other people's, my masks will be exhausted soon.
